School Holidays Fun

I don't think school holidays are that great. That sounds horrible, right? I do like sleeping in a little later. And I like having some free time to do play dates and things that we normally wouldn't have time for. I think maybe 2 weeks is too long. This second week, every time I've been in a place with moms and kids, I've heard a lot of shouting and threats. It hasn't been pleasant. One lady at the circus yesterday shouted in some European accent, "I have permission to spank de ash!" From the looks of it, he wasn't her kid but she had his mum's blessing to swat him!
I love spending time with D, but she gets bored, and she's glued to my side much of the time. And, I'm a person who likes their routine- and in school holidays, my routine goes out the window! Nothing gets done. And, as we count down to departure (2 weeks from tomorrow) I really need to get things done!
As a cure for school holidays boredom, The Loftus Community Centre in Leederville does some awesome programs. D took 8 different classes featuring art, drama, dance, and science. She taught us how to do some of her cool experiments home. Here are the kids, admiring her homemade lava lamp!
We also saw Toy Story 3 recently, so both kids have been enjoying Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye pretend play. No cowboy boots around here, but rain boots will do!
The kids have been troopers, thus far, with all the relocation business. C has woken up from naps and found our dining set missing, or some strangers at our house loading his dresser into their truck. It's bound to have an effect on a kid. D has retreated to her room a few times to let it all sink in. But overall, everyone is excited about the coming events. We're talking lots and making sure to validate their sad feelings about leaving Perth.
Will try to blog in the next few weeks- but no promises!
